MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a move to eradicate polio from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Minister Prof. Ms. Taqdis Gilani and District Health Officer Muzaffarabad Dr. Abdul Mateen inaugurated the polio eradication campaign by administering polio drops and vitamin A drops to children.
The regular polio campaign, which is being launched in Muzaffarabad district, will be conducted from May 26 to 30, 2025, in which teams of the Public Health Department will go door to door to administer polio drops and vitamin A drops to all children under the age of 5.
The Public Health Department of Muzaffarabad has completed all practical steps to make this national campaign a complete success. The main objective of the campaign is to eradicate polio from the entire country.
According to Dr. Abdul Mateen, District Health Officer, Muzaffarabad, during this campaign, 123734 children will be administered polio drops and 111140 vitamin A drops, for which 764 mobile teams, 67 fixed sites, and 19 transit points will be established, which will start at 8:00 am.
The campaign will be active from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 49 UCMOs and 156 Area Incharges have been appointed to supervise the campaign. They will supervise the teams, provide them with vaccines and other essential supplies on the spot, and obtain a record of their work every evening and submit it to the district control room.
District Supervisors and Tehsil Supervisors have been appointed to improve the performance of the polio campaign in this district. Dr. Abdul Matin, District Health Officer, Muzaffarabad, has appealed to parents, teachers, lawyers, civil servants, laborers, and friends from every school of thought across the district to fully cooperate with the door-to-door teams so that this national campaign is successful.

It is worth mentioning here that Azad Kashmir has been polio-free for the last 25 years. The public is requested to note that if, for any reason, the mobile teams of the Public Health Department do not visit your home during May 26-30, 2025.
