LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely not to renew contract of women’s national team head coach Mohammad Wasim, due to team’s poor performance at the World Cup.
Sources familiar with the matter said Wasim’s successor is likely to be named next week. He was appointed women’s head coach in 2024.
The PCB believes that Wasim couldn’t perform as was expected rather results continued to decline under him despite full support from the board.
World Cup fiasco
Contrary to claims, the Green Shirts ended winless at the Women’s World Cup.
According to insiders, Wasim was independent in team selection and support-staff appointments, yet results remained “zero”, local media reported on Sunday.
National team’s batting, despite Wasim’s own background as a batsman, became the side’s weakest point throughout the World Cup. Pakistan women’s national team’s winless World Cup 2025 campaign saw them finish seventh in the standings with three points and that too from the wash-outs.
