MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Heavy rainfall and hailstorms have started in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, making the weather pleasant after scorching heat.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued an advisory, urging residents to remain careful as rainwater enters residential places.
The city was covered in thick clouds since morning, after which rain started and continued intermittently. The temperature dropped due to the blowing of cool winds, and the citizens enjoyed the cool weather.
However, the heavy rain also affected the city’s life. Water accumulated in the roads and streets in various areas, causing problems in transportation.
The situation was worse in the low-lying areas where water entered the houses, causing problems for the residents. In many places, the drainage system could not withstand the pressure of the rain, causing water to stagnate for a long time.
Citizens say that while the rain has made the weather pleasant, it has also exposed administrative problems, especially the weakness of the drainage system.
In some areas, the flow of traffic was affected, and vehicles had difficulty passing.
According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in the next few days, in view of which citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures.
The relevant institutions are also being asked to improve the drainage system so that such problems can be avoided in the future.
Overall, the rain made the weather pleasant, but also highlighted the weaknesses of urban infrastructure, due to which the public had to face temporary difficulties.
