TEHRAN (Kashmir English): The United States military has launched a fresh wave of attacks against Iran, marking the sixth consecutive night of strikes amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement posted on social media that the latest operation is aimed at further weakening Iran’s military capabilities. According to CENTCOM, the strikes are part of an ongoing campaign targeting key infrastructure and strategic sites.
According to Iranian media, the US attacked a bridge in Bandar Khamir that is located in the southern province of Hormozgan.
The attack took place at about 11 pm and destroyed the bridge, which serves as the vital communication line between Bandar Abbas and Lar.
Moreover, the US troops attacked a communications tower located on the hill above Bandar Abbas. According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the attack disrupted electricity in some areas due to the destruction of the tower.
Besides, Iranian media reported the casualties as a result of the attacks. According to Tasnim, seven people got injured in attacks performed by US troops in southern Iran, whereas another two people were injured during the attack on Bandar Abbas railway station.
Additionally, according to Iranian news agencies, US fighter planes launched a missile attack on Iranshahr airport; however, the exact damage from the attack was not specified.
The new attacks followed the announcement of the US that it had begun the sixth phase of its military operations against Iran.
