LAHORE (Kashmir English): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced on Thursday that 100,000 electric bikes would be provided free of charge to students across the province.
In a ceremony held at Arifwala, she also added that 100,000 laptops and 50,000 meritorious scholarships would be provided to the students.
The Chief Minister also added that Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence would be set up in every tehsil.
The Chief Minister said that the provincial government has transformed the govt schools into modern learning centers where poor and wealthy children would get equal education.
She advised the students to take pride in saying that they study in government schools, because the government has made a pledge to give them the same facilities as are provided in costly private educational institutes.
She said that education is the greatest leveler and higher education paves the way to new avenues of human progress.
She said that there was unprecedented interest in admissions to the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence, where five thousand candidates appeared for one thousand seats.
She said that all basic facilities, which were lacking previously in government schools in Punjab, are now being provided for Rs40 billion, which include new classrooms, furniture, washrooms, fresh drinking water supply, and other required facilities.
Further, she said that the government is setting up laboratories for the subjects of science, technology, maths, computers, and information technology, whereas for the first time in Punjab, labs of artificial intelligence are also being set up, so that the students of Punjab may get the same advanced knowledge as students of other developed countries.
The Punjab chief minister urged the students to learn artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics, saying that these skills are the guarantee of success in the future.
