ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced advanced, technology-equipped tablet devices to make registration and identification services more accessible to citizens across Pakistan.
According to NADRA officials, the tablets are manufactured locally in Pakistan and equipped with the authority’s Pak-IDsoftware, enabling officials to provide registration services outside traditional, fixed registration centres.
The initiative aims to facilitate citizens by bringing essential services closer to their homes and reducing the need to travel long distances or wait in queues at registration offices.
Tablets Equipped with Advanced Biometric Technology
The newly introduced devices feature technology that allows NADRA officials to collect essential biometric information during registration.
Key features include:
-
Fingerprint scanning: Enables the collection of fingerprint data for identification purposes.
-
Photograph capture: Allows officials to take citizens’ photographs during registration.
-
Iris scanning: Supports biometric identification through iris data.
-
Pak-ID software: Facilitates registration-related activities through portable devices.
These features allow officials to carry out registration procedures in different locations, subject to the applicable requirements and procedures.
NADRA to Extend Services Beyond Registration Centres
NADRA officials said the tablets can be deployed in areas where large numbers of citizens require registration services.
For example, if a Union Council experiences an unusually high number of visitors, an official equipped with a tablet can be sent to the location to assist citizens.
The mobile service can also be used in other areas where additional registration support is needed, helping reduce pressure on fixed centres and making services more convenient for residents.
Locally Manufactured Devices to Expand Service Delivery
According to officials, the tablets are manufactured in Pakistan, and their use is being gradually expanded.
The initiative forms part of efforts to improve access to identity and registration services by enabling NADRA personnel to work in the field rather than relying exclusively on conventional registration offices.
