NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, expressed concern over the situation in Iran and the region and stressed the need for diplomacy and negotiations.
Addressing the United Nations Security Council UNSC meeting on the situation in Iran, the Pakistani Permanent Representative said that we are closely monitoring the situation in Iran and the region. We believe in the peaceful resolution of all disputes.
Pakistani Representative Asim Iftikhar termed external interference as a violation of the UN Charter and said that all disputes should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law.
“A stable Iran is in the interest of Pakistan and the region,” he said.
Pakistani Representative Asim Iftikhar expressed the hope that the situation in Iran will soon normalize, and external pressure and internal turmoil will also end.
He clarified that Pakistan will continue diplomatic efforts to resolve the issues.
No Intention of Tension or Conflict: Iran
However, Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, told the Security Council that they have no intention of tension or conflict, but if there is aggression, they will give a befitting reply.
Addressing the UNSC meeting, the Iranian deputy envoy described the Trump administration as the American regime and said that those who failed to achieve their goals through the 12-day war are now trying to achieve the same goals by creating political instability.
He said that during January 8 and 10, Iran faced ISIS-style terrorism. Beheadings were systematically carried out in Iran, people were burned alive, officials were tortured, and attempts were made to find a pretext for intervention due to the increasing death toll in Iran.
He said that threatening to use force against Iran for any purpose, even if it is under the pretext of protecting protesters or supporting the people, would be a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The Iranian deputy envoy clarified that justifying force under the pretext of humanitarianism is a deliberate misuse of international law.
Deputy Representative Hossein said that he does not seek any kind of escalation or confrontation, but any direct or indirect act of aggression will be responded to decisively and legally under Article 51.
The Iranian deputy representative clarified that this is not a threat but a statement based on reality, and the responsibility for all its consequences will lie solely with those who initiate such illegal actions.
He stressed that the Security Council has a clear, moral, political, and legal responsibility to immediately reject and condemn such illegal actions, before it is too late.
US Stands with People of Iran
Earlier, the United States once again sent a strong message to Iran in the United Nations Security Council UNSC meeting, saying that we stand with the brave people of Iran.
The United Nations Security Council held a meeting on the situation in Iran. The American delegate, while addressing the meeting, said that millions are protesting against the Iranian government.
The American delegate gave a clear message to Iran that all options are under consideration to stop the killings in Iran.
The massacre of protesters must stop, and if the massacre does not stop, different options will be considered, and President Trump is not a person who takes words but action; he believes in action.
The American delegate described Iran’s behavior as contrary to negotiations and said that the Iranian government used brutal force on the protesters, and the use of force by the Iranian government against its own citizens is having negative effects on world peace and security.
US envoy Mike Waltz condemned reports of an internet shutdown in Iran, alleging that the move was being deliberately taken to hide the facts on the ground from the world.
The US envoy alleged that Iran is a sponsor of terrorist organizations and that Tehran’s behavior is a threat not only to its own people but also to global stability.
