LONDON (Kashmir English): The University of Southampton has opened applications for a PhD research project for international and local students that uses artificial intelligence and deep learning to predict nanoscale defects in semiconductor chip manufacturing.
The project, Deep Learning Modelling of Nano Defects in Chip Fabrication, combines semiconductor fabrication, experimental characterisation, machine learning and high-performance computing.
According to the university, the project funds eligible students, with applications due by June 1, 2027.
UK and EU students can receive tuition fee coverage and a tax-free living stipend, while international candidates, including students from Pakistan, can also apply, although full international tuition support may depend on additional faculty funding.
