HEC announces new fellowship program for students

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the Quaid-e-Azam Memorial Fellowship Program to promote advanced “academic research on Jinnah’s life, vision, thought, leadership, role, and contributions”.

The commission said that the scholarship program was launched to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan.

Under the initiative, a nationwide call for research synopses is invited from eligible Pakistani scholars interested in pursuing PhD studies on Quaid-e-Azam at leading international universities.

The fellowship aims to foster high-quality international research and contribute to a deeper understanding and preservation of his political and constitutional thought, leadership, contributions, and enduring legacy.

​Eligibility criteria

The HEC said that the applicant must be a Pakistani or Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) national and enrolled as a full-time PhD student at a recognized university in Pakistan.

It added that he/she must have completed at least 18 credit hours of PhD coursework and completed at least 18 months but not more than 3.5 years of PhD enrolment at the time of application.

“For the applicable batch, the PhD enrolment date must fall between Spring 2023 and Spring 2025, inclusive.”

The applicants must have passed either the GAT Subject Test or University Admission Test at the time of admission/enrolment in the PhD programme and have an approved PhD research topic and synopsis from BASR, DASR, or an equivalent notified body of the university.

Fellowship package

Selected scholars will be provided the following financial support, subject to the prescribed terms and conditions.

Travel allowance:

Economy class return airfare is provided up to USD 1300/- for one trip.

Note: HEC will arrange the tickets.
