DUBAI (Kashmir English): The United Arab Emirates (UAE)has announced new rules and regulations for Pakistani citizens to obtain a work visa, making a ‘Police Character Certificate’ mandatory.
According to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, from ‘20’ July ‘2026, all visa applicants will have to attach a certificate issued by the local police with the application, certified by the Emirati embassy.
Under the new directive issued by the Emirati government, no work visa application of any Pakistani citizen will be accepted without a ‘Good Conduct Certificate’.
Visa aspirants will have to obtain this certificate from their respective police department in Pakistan, after which it will be necessary to get it formally certified by the UAE Embassy in Islamabad.
The Bureau of Immigration has clarified that all official steps must be completed before submitting a visa application.
The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment has directed all licensed overseas employment promoters and citizens seeking employment abroad to strictly implement these new orders.
Officials say that any deficiency or non-compliance in the documents may lead to rejection of visa applications, so all promoters should ensure the accuracy and verification of all documents in advance.
The UAE is one of the most important employment centers in the Gulf countries for Pakistani labor force and professionals, where millions of Pakistanis reside and send billions of dollars in foreign exchange to the country.
For some time now, the Emirati government has started a series of reforms in its policies regarding security issues, transparency, and transparent records of workers.
Earlier, the Emirati authorities tightened the process of certification and diplomatic verification for the workforce at different times so that only law-abiding individuals can get employment opportunities.
UAE announces 5-year multiple-entry visas: How to apply?
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa that allows travelers of all nationalities to visit the country multiple times without the need for a local sponsor or host.
According to the details, the visa will be valid for up to five years, allowing visitors to stay for up to 90 days per visit. The stay may be extended to 180 days, subject to approval, while the maximum total stay will be limited to 180 days within any 12-month period.

To apply, you’ll typically need:
- A valid passport
- Valid health insurance
- A return or onward travel ticket
- Bank statements showing a minimum balance of US$4,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) over the required period

The visa costs around AED 3,713, including applicable fees, and applications can be submitted through the UAE’s official immigration platforms.
