ABU DHABI (Kashmir English): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been said to have put a ban on citizens from nine African and Asian nations from submitting applications for tourist and employment visas.
The restriction covers the Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Bangladesh.
Applicants from these countries are suspended temporarily, the immigration circular states, with no new work or tourist visas being issued.
Though UAE officials have not yet officially responded to the reason behind the move, reports indicate potential connections to security issues, and diplomatic tensions.
The UAE has indeed enforced such limitations before, including temporary restrictions on Nigerian applicants, though statements regarding such policies from officials have tended to be rare.
