WASHINGTON DC (Kashmir English): The Secret Service took President Donald Trump off the stage at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington DC, following reports of gunfire at the event.

The Secret Service evacuated Vice President JD Vance and his Cabinet members who were present at the event. A CNN source reported that Trump remains safe, while two sources confirmed Vance has successfully exited the dinner.

The official from the administration stated that Cabinet members remain in good condition. According to pool reports, several US Secret Service agents at the Washington Hilton event shouted shots fired during the proceeding.

The Secret Service confirmed on X that they have taken one person into custody. The Secret Service agents moved toward President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, April 25.

Alex Brandon/AP Trump announced through Truth Social that law enforcement officers arrested a shooter while he praised Secret Service agents and police officers for their rapid and courageous response to the situation.

The president announced his return to the White House through a post which he made later. Trump announced that a press conference would take place shortly. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was “a few feet away from (a gunman) as he was shooting,” he said on air.

Blitzer explained that he observed a man with a high-powered weapon who started shooting while he stood only a few feet away from the gunman.
