RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The city authorities have imposed heavy fines on transporters for overcharging passengers before Eid in Rawalakot.
Assistant Commissioner Rawalakot Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed, accompanied by TSI Rawalakot Kazim Hussain Shah, made transporters who were overcharging return the extra fares.
According to details, the AC, during checking, made drivers of vehicles on the Rawalpindi to Hajira Abbaspur route return approximately Rs 30,000 in excess fares that they had collected from passengers. The transporters were also fined.
In subsequent hours, no complaint of overcharging was received on any route in Rawalakot Tehsil. The transporters charged routine fare on all routes in Rawalakot. The public praised this action and thanked the administration.
Nation celebrates Eid tomorrow
It is to mention that transporters charge in excess ahead of the Eid days, in vi0lation of the prescribed rules and regulations. The Administrations usually fail to control overcharging in connivance with the officials. The nation is celebrating Eid tomorrow (Saturday).
