Three earthquakes hit northern areas, tremors felt in Sindh

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale was recorded on Friday at 12:36 PM (PST), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The earthquake had a depth of 14 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 74 kilometers northwest of Shahdadkot. The coordinates of the quake were recorded at 28.28°N latitude and 67.30°E longitude.

Earlier, Two earthquakes, measuring more than 5 on the Richter scale, were felt in the northern parts of Pakistan on Friday morning.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the first earthquake was recorded at 9:40 am on March 27, 2026, with a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 15 km, and the location was in northwest Kashmir (83 km northeast of Gilgit).

The second earthquake was recorded at 9:53 am, with a magnitude of 5.3 and a depth of 12 km and the location was in northwest Kashmir (84 km northeast of Gilgit).

The epicenter of both earthquakes was in the northeastern region near Gilgit, in northwest Kashmir. The tremors were felt in Gilgit, Skardu, Pattan, Balakot and surrounding areas.

After the earthquake, citizens came out of their homes and offices and kept reciting the Kalima Tayyaba. People gathered in open spaces in several areas.

No reports of any loss of life or property have been received so far, however, authorities have advised citizens to remain vigilant and contact them immediately in case of any emergency.
