‘Surgical Week’ continues at Mirpur Teaching Hospital

MIRPUR, AJK (Kashmir English): Under the spirit of capacity building of the medical crew, Surgical Week has started at the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur.

The initiative will enhance the capabilities of the staff and promoting modern surgery not only in the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur but also in the entire region. The event will continue till April 17.

Renowned urologists, general surgeons and ENT surgeons from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are attending the Surgical Week under the patronage of Professor Dr. Faisal Bashir, Principal of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College.

Besides renowned master trainer Professor Dr. Motin Sharif from the UK, who holds a prominent position in the field of robotic surgery at the global level, is also serving as Director Medics Across Continent.

In addition, Professor Dr. Haroon (ENT Consultant) and chairman IMRA, is also participating in the event.

It may be noted that IMRA has completed about 200 free procedures in Pakistan so far, the cost of which per patient is about Rs 25 to 30 lakhs.

These expert surgeons are not only performing modern and complex surgeries but are also paying special attention to the practical training of PG trainee doctors and house officers.

Surgical Week at Mirpur hospital

Organizing Chairman Professor Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Raja is playing a key role in organizing the Surgical Week.

Medical Superintendent DHQ hospital Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, while addressing the inaugural session, thanked all the doctors and NGOs, who provided the opportunity to the host institution and gave the doctors here a valuable opportunity to learn.

He also expressed his special gratitude to the Principal, Ms. Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College, Prof. Dr. Faisal Bashir, for their full support at the institutional level.

Furthermore, the Medical Superintendent also expressed his special gratitude to the local community, with whose cooperation the renovation of the Operation Theatre (OT) was completed in just two weeks, which made this major event possible.
