CAPE TOWN (Kashmir English): Veteran Australian player Steve Smith has set the record for the most catches taken by a fielder in Test cricket.
Smith surpassed England’s Joe Root—who held the record with 220 catches—by reaching a tally of 221 catches in Test matches.
With this achievement, the Australian player has become the record-holder for the most catches taken by a fielder in the history of Test cricket.
He accomplished this feat during the first Test match against South Africa.
Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid holds the third spot on the list of most catches taken, having secured 210 catches.
