PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The inaugural meeting of the 11-member advisory council was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

Declaring the war against terrorism a top priority, the Governor directed council members to accelerate reform processes within their respective departments, adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, and ensure concrete actions in official affairs.

At the outset of the meeting, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the participants and instructed council members to expedite necessary measures after receiving briefings on the affairs of their respective departments.

He emphasized that, rather than merely forming committees, practical steps must be taken. The public has placed its trust in the administration, and council members must now live up to that trust through their performance.

He added that “It is essential to demonstrate a clear difference between past and present performance by rapidly advancing official business.”

The Governor stated that the war against terrorism remains the top priority, and support for the police force will continue in this regard. There will be no compromise on cooperation with intelligence agencies.

Faisal Karim Kundi added that once the law and order situation in the province improves, full attention must be focused on development initiatives to ensure the provision of better facilities to the public.

Directive to Leverage Successful Initiatives from Other Provinces

The Governor instructed council members to value suggestions and consultations aimed at improving their ministries. He noted that successful initiatives implemented in one province could also be adopted in others.

He stated that the positive initiatives undertaken in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan should be leveraged, while similar measures should be introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that other provinces might emulate them.

Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the need to highlight a positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; rather than portraying the province solely through the lens of terrorism, its peaceful and positive face must be showcased.

He noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possesses immense potential in the sectors of natural resources and tourism. Once peace is established in the province, tourists and investors alike will be drawn to the region.

Assuring the council members of his full support, the Governor stated that he would be available around the clock to cooperate with them.

He expressed his resolve to demonstrate a clear distinction between past and present performance through the expedited handling of official business, effective reforms, and concrete actions.

He remarked that they would not simply form committees only to forget about them two months later; their top priority is the establishment of law and order and the eradication of terrorism.

Faisal Karim Kundi asserted that peace in the province is paramount, with development and other matters following thereafter.

He stated that the government’s writ would be established in conflict-ridden areas, adding that they would strive to ensure that personnel fighting against terrorism do not feel isolated.
