KARACHI (Kashmir English): Summer Vacation Timetable of the University of Sindh has been officially announced for all institutes, departments, centers, and campuses for two months, starting from June 1 to July 31.

According to the notice issued by the registrar’s office on Friday, classes shall resume on August 3, following the vacation period.

It has also been notified that directors and chairpersons will be present in the office twice weekly, i.e., on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the vacation.

According to the notice, Pro Vice Chancellors, Dean of Faculties, administrative officials, and other assisting staff members will perform their regular duties as usual.

Assisting staff comprises programmers, superintendents, clerks, laboratory assistants, internet operators, computer operators, guards, and peons.

Furthermore, it has been advised to the faculty members to submit the semester examination result sheets to the concerned directors and chairpersons before June 1.

Earlier, the Sindh Education Department announced that summer vacation for schools in the province will be observed from June 1 to July 31.

A statement issued by the government said the decision would apply to all public and private schools across the province.

The development came hours after Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced the summer vacation schedule for the province.

Punjab summer vacation

A Punjab government statement released earlier in the day said that the vacation would begin on May 22 and continue until August 23, meaning the students would get more than three months off.

The decision comes as a relief to students and teachers alike as the country reels from a hot spell with temperatures expected to remain high in the coming weeks.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had warned that heatwaves, flash floods, urban flooding, and windstorms could affect several regions in the coming weeks.

The weather department had also said that strong winds, dust storms, and hailstorms could potentially affect seasonal crops, vegetables, and orchards.
