QUETTA (Kashmir English): Security forces have killed 13 more terrorists belonging to Fitna Al Khawarij in the past 24 hours under Operation Shaban, bringing the total number of deaths to 39, the security sources said on Friday.
The Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police launched “Operation Shaban” following the militants’ attack on the Mangi Dam police post in Ziarat district on Tuesday, in which 27 police personnel were martyred.
According to security sources, 26 militants were killed during clearance operations conducted on July 6 and 7, while the latest engagements resulted in the deaths of 13 more militants.
The sources said the operation has been underway in the rugged mountainous areas against Khawarjis, with security forces tightening the siege through coordinated ground and air actions.
In addition, the security forces also successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a police station in the Zaidi area of Khuzdar this morning.
According to the sources, eight more militants were killed during a swift response by Pakistan Army and FC troops, while an additional five to six militants were killed in helicopter operations.
Security sources claimed that a total of 75 militants have been killed since July 5 in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across the province.
