RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Wednesday said that three major terrorist incidents were reported in the past four days, which resulted in the killing of 54 terrorists and martyrdom of 42 security personnel.

He was holding a key press conference on the prevailing security situation in Balochistan amid the recent attacks.

Briefing about the recent situation in the province, the DG ISPR noted that three major terrorist incidents were reported in the past four days, which resulted in the killing of 54 terrorists and martyrdom of 42 security personnel and civilians.

He further said that 27 officials of the Balochistan Police, 11 of the Pakistan Army, and four civilians were martyred in several engagements with terrorists across the province.

Lt Gen Sharif said the first incident took place on the night of July 4-5, when Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists attacked the innocent local population in Hanna Urak, adding that “four brave innocent civilians were martyred and six others were injured” during the attack.

He further added that in the second incident, terrorists carried out a multidirectional attack on a police checkpost at Mangi Dam in Ziarat district, where 9 policemen, including two station house officers (SHOs), were martyred.

During the crossfire at the checkpost, fifteen terrorists were killed. Lt Gen Chaudhry noted that engagement with terrorists continued in the mountains of Ziarat after the Ziarat checkpost attack.

He said that in total, 26 kharijis have been killed, including 11 confirmed killed in a clearance operation.

He further added that 18 policemen, who were taken hostage by the terrorists from Ziarat checkpost, were also martyred, bringing the total number of cops who lost their lives to 27.

The military spokesman noted that the operation was still underway.

The ISPR DG further said the third incident took place today in Bela near the N-25 highway, where an army convoy was attacked by militants belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

During the attack, one junior commissioned officer and 10 soldiers embraced martyrdom, while six terrorists were killed in Kharan and another eight in Dalbandin.

Afghanistan, India behind attacks

Lt. Gen. said that the territories under the control of the Taliban regime were being used to carry out terrorist attacks against Pakistan.

He further named India and those forces with India who cannot tolerate Pakistan’s respect, prosperity, and stability behind these attacks.

The DG ISPR asserted that the majority of the terrorists engaged and killed turned out to be Afghan.

While speaking on the recent Rangers camp attack in Karachi, the military spokesperson said that three of the four attackers involved in the attack were Afghan nationals.

He further said that the Afghan Taliban regime was providing support and facilitation to the militants. Lt. Gen. said that India is behind all these terror incidents in Balochistan.

Talking about illegal Afghan nationals, he said that we will remove illegally residing Afghan nationals from Pakistan, and no one in the world can threaten Pakistan.

Referring to the government’s policy, Lt Gen Chaudhry said the state had maintained a clear position over the past three years.

“The state has made it clear that this is Fitna al Hindustan and has nothing to do with Balochistan or the Baloch people,” he added. “The state has also made it clear that Fitna al Khawarij has nothing to do with Islam.”
