KURRAM (Kashmir English): Security forces have foiled an alleged infiltration attempt by Fitan Al Khawarij from Afghanistan in the Kurram sector and responded strongly to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces on border posts on Wednesday, security sources said.
According to security sources, terrorists attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghan border positions in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces. Pakistani troops detected the movement and responded, giving an effective and decisive response.
Following the failed infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban forces opened fire on Pakistani border posts using heavy weapons, mortars and other arms, the sources said.
Troops responded promptly, effectively and vigorously, targeting several Afghan Taliban border posts and mortar positions with artillery, including small and large weapons.
As a result of the fierce counter-attack, the Afghan Taliban were forced to flee from several posts.
Security sources said that the border situation is being constantly monitored, adding that the forces are fully prepared and alert to give a prompt and decisive response to any provocation by the enemy.
