ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Saudi Arabia will support Pakistan if India launches another attack on Islamabad, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Sunday.

Khawaja Asif stated that all the defense requirements are covered by the newly concluded agreement with Saudi Arabia.

He emphasized that Saudi Arabia will support Pakistan if India attacks again.

“Wherever we can serve their interests, we will, and in return, they will assist us in meeting our economic needs,” Asif added, adding that Saudi Arabia will become less dependent on Western nations.

He added that more Muslim nations might join this partnership and that additional Pakistani labor might be deployed to Saudi Arabia in the future.

He recommended that the Muslim world form an alliance like NATO.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a landmark “Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement” in Riyadh during the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the Kingdom.

The key aspect of the agreement includes that “any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both.”

“This agreement, which reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and to achieve security and peace in the region and the world, aims to develop aspects of defence cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression,” the statement read.

The defense agreement is aimed at promoting regional integrity, peace, and stability in the Islamic world and strengthening the unity among Islamic countries.
