LAHORE (Kashmir English): Former Pakistani fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has long spoken out about alleged betting and match-fixing in cricket, and he states that his new book will reveal many “inside stories.”
Sarfraz Nawaz is counted among the world’s finest fast bowlers and is also credited as the pioneer of reverse swing.
The launch of the new book by the former fast bowler, who is currently battling health issues in London, will take place at Lord’on September 25.
He says the autobiography details controversies such as dressing-room politics and match-fixing.
Corruption in Cricket
In an interview in London, Sarfraz Nawaz told BBC Urdu that his book would describe how players undermined one another, how efforts were made to oust captains, and how the element of gambling gradually infiltrated Pakistani cricket.
He mentioned that the book covers the report prepared under Justice Faqir Muhammad Yousuf, the Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum Commission, allegations against former captains, and statements from various other individuals.
Sarfraz Nawaz, who has campaigned against corruption in cricket for decades, claims that he faced threats of serious consequences for doing so. “It is the bookies who have been afraid of me.” “I have received threats that if I spout nonsense, I will be killed.”
He stated that he had formally lodged FIRs regarding this matter in 2010 and 2017.
