Muzaffarabad weather: Residents set to witness scattered thunderstorms tonight

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The residents of Muzaffarabad experienced light rainfall in the morning, whereas the same weather conditions with moderate to heavy rainfall  are expected during the night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather with scattered thunderstorms  is predicted in the twin cities whereas most parts of the country will remain dry during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

The maximum temperature recorded today ranges up to 18  degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature expected in the evening will range up to 11 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level in Muzaffarabad ranges between 70% to 85% with light wind blowing in the northwest direction at a speed of 05 km/h. Whereas, the chance of precipitation is up to 65% today.

Earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and hailstorm in Azad Kashmir and other areas of the country from tonight.

In a weather forecast, the Met Office said that a westerly wave will affect the upper and central parts of the country from today till April 20.

PMD warned that the hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels during the period.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper/Central Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while heavy rain/hailstorm is likely at a few places on Friday and Saturday.

As per details, strong winds and heavy rain wreaked havoc in Muzaffarabad and other parts of Azad Kashmir, with reports of several trees being uprooted.
