LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a rain alert for most districts of Punjab, forecasting rainfall accompanied by strong winds in several areas from October 12 to October 14.

According to the PDMA, a westerly weather system entered the country’s upper regions on Saturday, increasing the likelihood of rainfall and strong winds across different parts of the province. The changing weather is expected to affect both urban and rural areas.

The department has forecast rain in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Gujranwala.

Rain accompanied by strong winds is also expected in Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal and Mianwali.

Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall is likely in Faisalabad, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh during the forecast period.

In view of the expected weather conditions, the PDMA has directed relevant departments and emergency response agencies to remain alert and take precautionary measures to deal with any potential emergencies.

Special precautions have been advised in Murree, Galyat and other hilly areas, where the risk of landslides may increase during rainfall.

The PDMA has urged citizens to monitor weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and strong winds, and exercise particular caution while travelling through mountainous areas.

Authorities have also been instructed to ensure preparedness for emergencies and take timely action to minimise risks to public safety.
