ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Differences have reportedly emerged within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s performance and the future of the provincial government.
According to an ARY News report, PTI founder Imran Khan sent a message through his sister, Noreen Niazi, questioning Afridi’s performance and asking him to step down.
The report said the message was followed by party discussions over its future course of action, including plans for the September 27 long march to Islamabad.
According to the report, subsequent meetings between the PTI founder and party members also focused on Afridi’s role and the possibility of moving a no-confidence motion against him if he failed to participate in the planned march.
The report further stated that PTI leaders and members of the provincial assembly discussed the chief minister’s performance and the future of the KP government, highlighting differences within the party over the provincial administration.
Meanwhile, Afridi and other PTI figures were reportedly in contact with federal officials amid the evolving political situation. The reported discussions also included possible emergency measures and the potential imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
