5G service launch in Pakistan
Last week, telecommunication companies announced the rollout of 5G services in selected areas after receiving spectrum licences at a ceremony in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also addressed participants.
The government in March this year concluded a spectrum auction in Islamabad, selling 480 megahertz (MHz) for $507 million. Three operators competed for the 2,600MHz band, a key frequency range for 5G services.
5G spectrum licenses have been signed between PTA and telecom operators, including Zong, Jazz and Ufone.
After the issuance of the licenses, the three companies will be able to launch 5G services in the country regularly, which will provide high-speed internet and modern digital facilities to the users.
Addressing the license issuance ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the promotion of modern technology is a milestone in the industry, agriculture, and IT sectors, the 5G spectrum license was auctioned in a very transparent manner.
The Prime Minister said that I congratulate the entire team for resolving the legal challenges faced amicably. Zong and other partner telecom operators appreciate the cooperation; the youth will take advantage of modern technology and make the country famous in the IT sector.
