ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a strong warning to the public, urging people to stay alert against a growing number of scam calls and messages where fraudsters are pretending to be from the PTA in order to steal personal information.

The regulator made it clear that it does not contact individuals through calls, texts, or emails to ask for private details like passwords, One-Time Passwords (OTPs), or any online account information.

“Stay cautious — PTA will NEVER ask for your personal details, passwords, or OTPs via call, email, or message. Protect yourself and stay vigilant,” the PTA said in its latest warning.

People have been advised to be extra careful and avoid sharing any personal data with unknown callers or suspicious messages. Clicking on unverified links can also be dangerous and should be avoided.

  • Cases involving financial fraud can be reported to the State Bank of Pakistan at (021) 111723273.

The PTA also reminded everyone to report any suspicious messages or scam calls right away, saying that protecting personal information is key to stopping these fraudulent schemes.
