ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The US Department of State on Tuesday ordered some of its staff at Lahore and Karachi consulates to evacuate Pakistan due to security concerns, according to the US Embassy in Pakistan.
In a travel advisory, the US mission stated, “The Department of State ordered non-emergency U.S. government employees and the family members of U.S. government personnel from U.S. Consulates Lahore and Karachi to leave Pakistan due to safety risks.”
The statement further clarified that “there is no change to the status of Embassy Islamabad.”
The statement notes that, amid the military conflict between the United States and Iran on February 28, there has been an “ongoing threat of missile and drone attacks from Iran and disruptions to commercial flights.”
