ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) inspected 115 telecommunication sites across the country as part of efforts to improve service quality, network coverage and connectivity.

According to the telecom authority, PTA’s zonal offices’ teams inspected sites across various regions between September 30 and October 7.

“The inspections covered 39 sites in Lahore, 17 in Karachi, 16 in Sukkur, 14 each in Multan and Rawalpindi, 8 in Quetta, 4 in Abbottabad, and 3 in Gilgit.”

The field teams assessed network performance, voice and data service quality, coverage, and the availability of backup power arrangements. Improvements in mobile service quality have also been observed in several of the areas covered by these inspections, the PTA statement added.

Furthermore, it said that the monitoring exercise focused on identifying issues affecting consumers, including call connection failures, dropped calls, slow mobile internet speeds, and network coverage gaps. “Field teams also reviewed consumer feedback and complaints to better understand service-related challenges.”

The PTA said it was engaging with local administrations, elected representatives, and community members to help identify and resolve mobile service problems in different areas.

It added that where deficiencies or technical issues are identified at telecom sites and towers, the relevant mobile operators have been directed to undertake necessary corrective measures.

“These interventions are aimed at addressing service-related shortcomings and ensuring sustained improvements in network performance.”

“PTA remains committed to strengthening regulatory oversight, monitoring mobile operators’ performance, and ensuring timely identification and resolution of consumer concerns. These ongoing efforts aim to improve the quality, reliability, and availability of mobile telecommunications services and enhance the overall experience of consumers across Pakistan.”
