LAHORE (Kashmir English): In the 38th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11, Lahore Qalandars displayed an excellent performance and thrashed Peshawar Zalmi, who were undefeated in the event until now, by 6 wickets.
The match was played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Lahore Qalandars achieved the target of 200 runs by losing 4 wickets and with 3 balls remaining in the allotted overs.
Fakhar Zaman played a good innings of 58 runs, while Daniel Sams remained not out with 35 runs and led the team to victory.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi, batting first, scored 199 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Michael Bracewell scored an excellent 83 runs (not out), while captain Babar Azam played an innings of 58 runs.
From Qalandars side, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took two wickets each. Fakhar Zaman was declared Player of the Match for his excellent performance in the match.
PSL 11 points table
After this win, Lahore Qalandars have moved to the fourth position on the points table, while Peshawar Zalmi remains at the top despite their first defeat in the event. With Qalandars winning the latest game, Karachi Kings’ progress in the event has ended.
On the other hand, Hyderabad Kings are also in the race for the playoffs, but they need to win their last group match by a large margin to reach the next stage.
In their scheduled match against Rawalpindis, they will either have to win by 85 runs or achieve the target within 10 overs to improve their net run rate.
An important match will be played between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans for the second position on the points table.
The winning team of this match will face Peshawar Zalmi in the qualifier on April 28, and the winner of that match will directly secure a spot in the final.
The first eliminator of PSL 11 will be held on April 29 between the teams finishing in third and fourth positions, while the winning team of that match will compete against the runner-up team of the qualifier in Eliminator 2 to reach the final.
