MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Citizens and traders in Mirpur, a major commercial hub of Azad Kashmir, have expressed concern over the reported increase in professional beggars from outside the city, urging authorities to take effective measures to address the issue.

According to residents, complaints have emerged about groups involved in begging in different parts of the city, along with alleged altercations and reports of some individuals being involved in criminal incidents.

These concerns have reportedly created difficulties for citizens and members of the business community.

Residents have called on Mirpur SSP Khurram Iqbal and other relevant authorities to monitor such activities and take action against anyone found violating the law, without discrimination.

They have also stressed the need to identify and verify individuals suspected of involvement in unlawful activities, saying that effective enforcement could help improve public safety, maintain law and order, and preserve the city’s appearance.

Citizens and traders have urged the authorities to take appropriate steps to address their concerns while ensuring that any action is based on verified information and applicable law.
