PML-N short lists names for AJK PM, reserved seats

MURREE (Kashmir English): An important meeting of the Azad Kashmir parliamentary party was held in Murree under the chairmanship of PML (N) leader Nawaz Sharif, in which government formation in Azad Kashmir and the current political situation were discussed in detail.

According to sources, three names were shortlisted for the next Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir in the meeting, while the authority for the final selection of the Prime Minister was given to Nawaz Sharif.

According to sources, three names include Shah Ghulam Qadir and Tariq Farooq.

The list of candidates for the reserved seats of PML-N Azad Kashmir has also been sent to party leader Nawaz Sharif. The list for women’s seats includes the names of Maria Iqbal Tarana, Nasira Khan, Maryam Kashmiri, Nisara Abbasi, and Sehrish Qamar.

Raja Shadab Sikandar for the technocrat seat, Pir Mazhar Saeed for the Ulema and Mashaikh seat, and Raja Muhammad Javed for the overseas reserved seat are likely to be finalized.

Newly-elected members of the Azad Kashmir Assembly also attended the meeting, in whose honour a luncheon was organized.

During the meeting, consultations were held on the next stage of government formation in Azad Kashmir and other important political matters.

Due to the presence of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and other important figures, heavy police contingents remained deployed on various important routes in Murree.

According to sources, the final approval of the names of candidates for reserved seats will be given by PML (N) leader Nawaz Sharif, after which the process for the government formation in Azad Kashmir will be moved forward.
