NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly session.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled from London to New York for the UN General Assembly session. He is scheduled to address the assembly on September 25.
During the session, Shehbaz Sharif will also hold meetings with various world leaders. According to sources, the Prime Minister is also expected to meet Donald Trump while in the United States.
Prior to this, the Prime Minister spent three days in London, remaining at his apartment throughout his stay; he did not hold any political meetings there.
At the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister will highlight issues such as global peace, the situation in the Middle East, and Pakistan’s role in mediation. He will attend a dinner hosted by representatives of the Overseas Business Forum based in the US and will also stop in London on his return journey.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate meetings in New York with the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, and the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Discussions during these meetings covered Pakistan’s bilateral relations with France and the European Union, as well as the regional and global situation.
The situation in Palestine was also discussed during the meetings. The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated France’s efforts toward a two-state solution for the Palestinian issue and welcomed the French decision to restrict the import of goods from Israeli settlements.
