JEDDAH (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Jeddah on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Foreign Office said the prime minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation, would be undertaking official visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye from April 15 to 18.
Upon arrival in Jeddah, the Prime Minister and the Pakistani delegation were warmly welcomed by Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mashaal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, and Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq.
“The Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud,” the PMO’s Media Wing said.
The meeting will include discussions about the deepening of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia partnership, as well as the wider situation in the region, it said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson for Foreign Media Mosharraf Zaidi are part of the delegation.
On the other hand, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Iran’s capital, Tehran, along with a high-level delegation amid the ongoing mediation efforts to end the US-Iran conflict.
According to the Inter–Services Public Relations (ISPR), the delegation also includes the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
“COAS and CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Mohsin Naqvi, Interior Minister, along with the delegation, arrive at Tehran as part of the ongoing mediation efforts,” the military’s media wing said.
PM Shehbaz’s visit to three nations
Earlier, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake official visits to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Türkiye from April 15 to 18, 2026.
He said that the visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar will be in the bilateral context, where the Prime Minister will meet the leadership of Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss ongoing bilateral cooperation as well as regional peace and security.
The Prime Minister will participate in the Fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye. During the Forum, the Prime Minister will participate in the Leaders’ Panel, alongside other world leaders, to present Pakistan’s perspective at the Forum.
On the sidelines of the Forum, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other key world leaders, the statement added.
“Pakistan’s participation in the Forum reflects its continued commitment to constructive diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, and meaningful engagement with the international community on issues of global importance.”
