ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has left for Baku on a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the events marking the 5th anniversary of Victory Day, being commemorated today.
He is visiting Baku at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar is also accompanying the Prime Minister during the visit.
According to a statement issued by the official news agency, during the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the official celebrations of “Victory Day” and will also meet President Ilham Aliyev.
The talks between the two leaders will review all aspects of bilateral relations in detail, while focusing on identifying new avenues to further expand cooperation in diverse fields including trade, investment, energy, defense, education, and regional ties.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan have long-standing brotherly relations rooted in common faith, history, culture, and mutual trust. The two countries also maintain close cooperation in regional and international forums, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the United Nations.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister’s visit will reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its commitment to further advance the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.
