ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari has paid tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of Pakistan on Defence Day and Martyrs’ Day, saying the nation and armed forces successfully defeated the enemy’s plans during the 1965 war.
In his message, the president said the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs would continue to guide and inspire future generations. He said the spirit shown on September 6 was once again demonstrated during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, which he described as another important chapter in the country’s history.
President Zardari said the strong bond between the Pakistani people and armed forces reflected the country’s collective strength.
He added that no force could defeat a nation that remained united and determined to protect its sovereignty.
He also said lasting peace in South Asia could not be achieved without a fair resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He urged India to stop supporting proxy terrorism in Pakistan and said there would be no compromise on the country’s sovereignty and national security.
The president also described the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement as a sign of Pakistan’s growing role in regional security and defence cooperation.
He reiterated that the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs remain a source of national pride and a reminder of the importance of unity, patriotism and commitment to Pakistan’s defence.
PM Shehbaz Sharif Message on Defence Day
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Defense Day, said that in the Marka-e-haq, the forces gave a response to the enemy that generations will remember.
The Prime Minister said that in the 1965 war, the enemy was defeated on all fronts, and the success of Operation Banyan Marsus is a golden chapter in military history.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan will continue to play an active role in promoting regional and global peace and stability, and that peace in South Asia is not possible without a just solution to the Kashmir issue.
