MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has announced Rs1 billion to increase the professional capacity of the Azad Kashmir Police.
He announced on the occasion of passing out parade of the 60th Recruit Course of Azad Kashmir Police, which was held at the Police Lines in Muzaffarabad, the press release issued by AJK government’s press department said.
Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq attended the ceremony as the chief guest and inspected the passing out parade, along with giving away certificates of merit and cash prizes to the youth for their outstanding performance in the 60th Recruit Course.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Kashmir Rana Abdul Jabbar was present on this occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, the AJK premier said that the Azad Kashmir Police has a beautiful past, a glorious present and a bright future. “The government will ensure the provision of resources to the police in every possible way.”
Moreover, Anwar-ul-haq said that a huge amount of Rs4 billion is required for the improvement of the police, adding that, in the first phase, Rs1 billion will be disbursed in the current fiscal year.
He said that Rs1 billion rupees are for the provision of residential facilities for the police, improvement of training schools, arms and ammunition, transport and equipment.
“Our enemy is very cunning, the cunning enemy wants unrest here, the enemy can never look at the borders of Pakistan with a dirty eye but can promote unrest by spreading political chaos,” he said on the occasion.
IG AJK Rana Abdul Jabbar thanked the chief guest Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and other distinguished guests and participants for participating in the passing out parade and said that keeping in mind the new challenges faced by security, the establishment of the Anti-Riot Force, which we had promised, has been completed today.
“Keeping in mind the new security challenges, we have set goals to enhance the capacity of the Azad Kashmir Police, which include a modern counter-terrorism department and training centers that will expose the police force personnel to modern investigation techniques,” the IGP said
He said that the resources required to maintain law and order in the state have been provided in an unprecedented manner.
Furthermore, AJK police chief said that the establishment of Khidmat Markazes in all districts of Azad Kashmir to provide immediate facilities to the citizens is also the best achievement of the present government.
The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir has provided the resources required for the development of the police department despite the financial crisis, for which we are grateful.
At the end of the passing out ceremony, the anti-riot forces demonstrated excellent practical exercises involving modern methods to combat the protests carried out by the protesters in various forms and received applause from the participants.
The ceremony was attended by Senior Most Minister Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, government ministers Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai, Javed Badhanvi, Aamir Yasin Chaudhry, Advisor to the Government Ms. Nisara Abbasi, Additional Chief Secretary General Ms. Midhat Shahzad, government secretaries, top civil and military officials and a large number of people.
