MUMBAI: Indian veteran film actor Paresh Rawal has recently made the headlines, claiming that he drank his own urine to heal a knee injury.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Rawal said that he injured his leg while shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak, adding that the unconventional urine drinking remedy helped him recover faster from a serious knee injury.

Hera Pheri actor said that Ajay Devgn’s father and acclaimed action director Veeru Devgn visited him while he was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai and suggested that he consume his own urine to heal faster.

“He told me to drink my own urine first thing in the morning, and you will never face any problem,” Rawal said.

He added that Veeru Devgan advised him to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and mutton, and instead stick to regular food along with the urine therapy.

“I will sip it like a beer because if I have to follow through, I will do so properly. I did for 15 days, and when the X-ray reports came in, the doctor was surprised,” said Paresh Rawal.

He shared that while it would have normally taken about 2 to 2.5 months for the injury to heal, he was healed in a month and a half!

However, medical experts and health professionals have rejected the remedy, saying that there is no scientific basis for drinking urine to promote healing or health. Instead, they warn that it could lead to infections and put unnecessary stress on the kidneys.
