Pakistan’s upper regions to have two-day rain spell from today

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): There is a possibility of continuous rain in the upper regions of the country from May 10 to 12, which is expected to make the weather pleasant.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain is predicted in various districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from May 10 to 12, while rain with strong winds is expected in Islamabad and its surroundings. Rains are anticipated in several areas of Punjab, including the Pothohar region.

Rain is predicted in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir from May 11 to 13, which may lead to a drop in temperature.

On the other hand, some areas of South Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are likely to experience extremely hot and dry weather.

A report issued by PDMA states that overall above-normal rainfall and an increase in temperature are expected in Punjab during May, June, and July.

Expected rainfall

According to the report, rainfall in North and Northwest Punjab may be above normal, while in Central Punjab, rainfall is expected to be normal, and in Eastern Punjab, it is likely to be below normal.

Furthermore, temperatures across the province are expected to be above normal during May, while the Met office has also cautioned about a severe heatwave until May 11.

The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures according to the weather conditions, especially to avoid unnecessary travel during extreme heat and ensure increased water intake.

There is also a concern about water accumulation in low-lying areas during rain, and relevant departments have been instructed to remain alert.

Farmers have also been advised to adjust their agricultural activities according to the changing weather.
