WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s Envoy to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has invited American policymakers, diplomats, investors, and business leaders to take advantage of the growing investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Speaking in Washington, Ambassador Sheikh said that sectors such as agriculture, information technology (IT), and mineral resources offer rare and valuable opportunities for American investors.
He highlighted the IT sector in particular, saying that investing in Pakistan’s IT industry is a great way for US companies to access high-quality services at low cost. “Pakistan offers IT services at up to 70 per cent lower cost compared to the US,” the ambassador noted.
Ambassador Sheikh pointed out that over 80 American companies have been successfully operating in Pakistan for decades, which proves that the country is a stable, profitable, and emerging market for foreign investment.
He added that the Government of Pakistan is actively working to create a more investor-friendly and supportive regulatory environment. “Supporting the business community is our government’s top priority,” he stated.
During his speech, the Pakistani envoy also touched on the recent tensions between Pakistan and India. He said India’s provocations and aggressive behaviour came at a time when Pakistan was firmly focused on economic progress.
“We gave a strong and effective response to Indian aggression, which made the whole nation proud. However, our top priority remains peace, as it is essential for economic development,” he said.
Ambassador Sheikh praised the role of the US leadership in helping reduce tensions between Pakistan and India, saying it played an important role in efforts to maintain the ceasefire and promote diplomatic ties between the two nations.
He reminded US investors that Pakistan is not only home to a population of over 250 million, making it a major consumer market, but also holds a strategic position as a trade bridge between South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
