DUBAI (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan and women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana have been included in the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2026.

Sahibzada Farhan (men) and Fatima Sana (women) have been nominated for the award, driven by their stellar performances in the recently-concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and international fixtures, respectively.

Farhan’s performance in ICC T20 World Cup

Farhan enjoyed a remarkable run with the bat during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer.

The right-handed opener broke the record for most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition, surpassing Virat Kohli’s previous tally of 319 runs set in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2014.

Farhan scored 383 runs at an average of 76.60, including two centuries in a single edition. He is listed alongside England’s Will Jacks and USA’s Shadley van Schalkwyk.

The Pakistan opener’s prolific form helped Pakistan reach the Super 8 stage of the competition, where they missed out on a place in the semi-finals.

Sana impressed with both bat and ball. She was nominated for her efforts, including a crucial 52-run knock and key wickets against India and during the ODI series.

She is competing with India’s Arundhati Reddy and Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samaraweera.

in the first T20I, Sana smashed a brilliant 90. She followed this up with an unbeaten 47 and figures of 2 for 12 in the third match, a performance that also earned her the Player of the Match award.

Sana also contributed significantly in the 50-over format, striking a crucial 52 and claiming two important wickets in the second ODI. Across the entire tour, she took four wickets in the ODI series and two in the T20Is.

England’s Jacks delivered particularly crucial performances in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. This helped England finish top of Group 2.

USA pacer Van Schalkwyk emerged as one of the leading wicket-takers in the World Cup.

The right-arm fast bowler claimed 13 wickets during the tournament.
