LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday clarified that the women’s national cricket team would not visit India for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
The 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be played in India later this year.
Talking to the media in Lahore, Naqvi praised the women’s team for concluding their World Cup qualifier campaign unbeaten.
In a match today, the Pakistan women’s team defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.
Talking to journalists after the match, the PCB chief made it clear that the national women’s team will not travel to India for the mega event as per the “Fusion Formula”, which came into effect ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy earlier this year.
“We have a hybrid model in place, and it is up to India to decide the neutral venue for Pakistan’s matches,” the PCB chief said, adding that Pakistan will not travel to India as this formula has already been agreed upon.
When probed about the neutral venue for Pakistan’s matches in the World Cup, Naqvi shared that it is up to the host nation to make a decision, but emphasised that the national team will not be travelling to India.
