ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan has rejected the misleading statement of the Afghan spokesperson regarding the Istanbul talks.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the facts regarding the Istanbul talks were distorted by the spokesperson of the Afghan Taliban.

The statement said that Pakistan demanded the arrest of terrorists present on Afghan soil.

According to the Ministry of Information, Pakistan’s position is clear, consistent, and on record. Misrepresentation against Pakistan is unacceptable.

According to the statement, the false claims made by Afghanistan are contrary to the facts.

Pakistan has made it clear that the extradition of terrorists is possible through border entry points.

The Ministry of Information has termed any contradictory claim as baseless and misleading.

Istanbul Talks

Earlier, Pakistan and Afghanistan had agreed on the continuation of the ceasefire in Istanbul talks, according to a statement by the Turkiye Foreign Ministry.

According to the statement, “Afghanistan, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Qatar held meetings in Istanbul from 25-30 October 2025 aimed at solidifying the ceasefire which was agreed by Afghanistan and Pakistan in Doha on 18-19 October 2025 with the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar.

As per the statement, all parties have agreed on the continuation of the ceasefire.

“Further modalities of the implementation will be discussed and decided in a Principal level meeting in Istanbul on 6 November 2025,” the statement reads.

“All parties have agreed to put in place a monitoring and verification mechanism that will ensure maintenance of peace and imposing penalty on the violating party,” the statement added.

The press release further added that “As mediators, Türkiye and Qatar express their appreciation for the active contribution of both parties and stand ready to continue cooperation with both sides for lasting peace and stability.”

Earlier, Pakistan had agreed to resume the peace talks with the Afghan Taliban under the mediation of Turkiye and Qatar.

According to diplomatic sources, the decision to resume the talks was taken at the request of international mediators and regional host countries.

These countries urged both sides to move towards resolving the issues through dialogue. Pakistan has decided to give peace another chance by resuming talks with the Afghan Taliban.
