GILGIT (Kashmir English): Pakistan and China have held their first-ever joint border exercise at Mintika Pass along the Pakistan-China border, at an altitude of around 4,600 metres above sea level, Gilgit-Baltistan Police said.
The exercise commenced on September 15, bringing together personnel of the Chinese Army and the Khunjerab Security Police (KSP) of the Gilgit-Baltistan Police.
The activity was aimed at strengthening coordination, communication and professional capabilities for border security in the region’s challenging high-altitude terrain.
KSP personnel travelled for two consecutive days through difficult mountainous routes to reach the Mintika border point and participate in the joint exercise.
The activity focused on enhancing mutual communication, professional skills and practical capabilities required to operate in high-altitude and difficult border areas.
On the occasion, the Chinese Army hosted a banquet in honour of the Khunjerab Security Police personnel. Various weapons and defence equipment were also on display, and gifts were presented to the participating police personnel as a gesture of goodwill.
The joint exercise reflected growing professional interaction, mutual cooperation and friendly relations between the security agencies of Pakistan and China.
