ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): At least 1,006 lives, including 275 children, 163 women, and 568 men, were lost during the recent floods and torrential rains across the country, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.
Rescue and relief efforts are underway as authorities work to reach flood-hit communities and assess the scale of devastation, it added.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tops the list of death toll with 504 fatalities, including 90 children, 338 men, and 76 women.
Punjab recorded 304 deaths, including 110 children, 143 men, and 51 women, while Sindh reported 80 fatalities — 35 children, 35 men, and 10 women.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, 41 people were dead, Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded 38 deaths, while 30 deaths were reported in Balochistan. At least nine, including five children, three men, and a woman, lost their lives in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
In addition, 1,063 people have been injured nationwide, with Punjab again the worst hit, reporting 661 injuries, including 200 children.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 218 injuries, Sindh 87, Gilgit-Baltistan 52, AJK 37, Balochistan 5, and ICT 3.
Officials warn that the human toll reflects the widespread scale of destruction, particularly among vulnerable populations.
Relief agencies continue to mobilise resources as floodwaters submerge vast stretches of farmland, destroy homes, and displace thousands.
