WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has said that US President Donald Trump has not set a definitive period for the ceasefire with Iran.
According to her, President Trump wants the decision to extend the ceasefire to be made jointly and unanimously.
The spokesperson of White House further said that President Trump is satisfied with the ongoing blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
The White House spokesperson claimed that Iran’s private talks with the US differ from its public stance, and Iran must hand over enriched uranium.
Caroline said that the real conflict in the current situation is between hardline and moderate factions within Iran, where there are clear differences on the issue of the ceasefire.
Earlier, US media had claimed that President Trump extended the ceasefire with Iran not for an indefinite period but for 3 to 5 days.
US media have reported, citing White House officials, that US President Donald Trump has decided to extend the ceasefire with Iran for a limited period of 3 to 5 days instead of indefinitely.
According to reports, President Trump wants to give Iran a short time to present its proposals and is keen to finalize any potential agreement quickly.
US media say that the pressure of the deadline set by Trump could be helpful in persuading Iran to negotiate.
Trump says peace talks with Iran ‘possible’ as soon as Friday
The second round of peace talks between the US and Iran may be coming as soon as Friday, President Donald Trump told The New York Post.
When asked about the possible breakthrough in talks with Iran, Trump, in a text message, said, “It’s possible! President DJT.”
Furthermore, the report said that sources in Islamabad told NYP about positive mediation efforts with Tehran, renewing the possibility of more peace talks within the next “36 to 72 hours.”
