ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): An earthquake of moderate level jolted the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, besides Azad Kashmir, and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday morning.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicenter was 47 kilometers from Garam Chashma in the Koh Hindu Kush region, and its intensity was recorded at 5.5. The earthquake waa occurred at a depth of 199 kilometres.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage from the earthquake.
According to media reports, the earthquake’s intensity was higher in various areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and according to the Seismological Center, tremors were also felt in parts of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and India.
Moreover, the tremors were also felt in Swat, Hangu, North Waziristan, Chitral, and Muzaffarabad.
