LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has announced new timings for public and private schools across the province, with the revised schedule taking effect from August 24.
According to the notification, the new working hours of schools will be in effect from August 24 to October 15.
“Single-shift schools will be open from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 1:30 pm. On Friday, teaching hours in single-shift schools will be from 8 am to 12:45 pm,” it added.
Similarly, the morning shift in double-shift schools will be from Monday to Thursday will be from 8 am to 12:30 pm, while on Friday, the morning shift will run from 8 am to 12:30 pm.
The evening shift in double shift schools will start at 1 pm and will continue till 5:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Friday, the evening shift will be from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.
The School Education Department has issued a notification of the new working hours of schools.
Chief Executive Officers and District Education Authorities across Punjab have been directed to ensure the implementation of the new working hours.
The 15-minute difference in working hours of girls’ schools can be adjusted at the district level as per the need, the notification added.
Schools reopen across Punjab
Schools throughout Punjab are set to resume their classes on August 24 after the summer holidays.
The education minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, urged the concerned officials to finalize cleanliness and security arrangements before students show up at their institutions.
The education minister directed school management to conduct cleaning of classes, washrooms, and play fields. Clean drinking water arrangements are also a mandate in the school buildings in view of the monsoon season.
Water tanks and rooftops will have to be cleaned, and water tank cleaning and sterilizing of drain water will be carried out. The work related to cleaning and disinfecting is in progress.
In view of Dengue, SOPs shall be fully adhered to, and wherever there can be breeding of mosquitos should be eradicated. Special instructions were given regarding securing the under-construction building or the building under repair, etc.
