QUETTA (Kashmir English): The Balochistan government has announced new winter working hours for government departments across the province, effective from October 15, 2026, until April 14, 2027.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, government offices in the province will open at 8:30 am from Monday to Thursday, and work will continue until 4:00 pm.
There will be a half-hour break from 1:30 pm to 2 pm for prayers and meals from Monday to Thursday, the notification said.
On Friday, offices will remain open from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, while there will be a one-hour break from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm for Friday prayers and meals.
According to the new winter schedule, all government offices in the province will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays; thus, there will be two holidays in general government offices during the week.
The notification has clarified that schools, colleges, and universities will be exempted from these new working hours, meaning that the normal working hours will be observed in educational institutions.
However, the offices of the Health Department and the Education Department will work 6 days a week. The working hours for these offices have been fixed from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday, the notification added.
“These attached offices will work from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, while on Friday this schedule will include a separate fixed break for prayers and other essential matters.”
According to the schedule issued by the Balochistan government, office work in government institutions will continue as per the fixed hours during the winter season.
